How each language says "it hurts"
English says "I have a headache" or "My head hurts". Hindi says the pain is in the body part:
- My head hurts. —
- My stomach hurts. —
- I have a fever. —
- I have a cold. —
Notice that Hindi often uses मुझे ("to me") for illnesses, as if the illness belongs to you.
At the clinic
- I need to see a doctor. —
- I have been coughing since yesterday. —
- Please give me some medicine. —
