The stem and the dictionary
Tamil dictionaries usually list verbs by their stem, such as படி, from which the tenses are built.
Special stems
Some verbs change slightly when the ending is added, such as போ becoming போகிறேன், with க் inserted. Learn these as you meet them.
Spoken forms
In speech, -கிறேன் often becomes -றேன்: போகிறேன் becomes போறேன்.
Tips
- Learn the pattern with one verb.
- Use it with each pronoun.
- Use the dictionary to find stems.
