Working culture
Greek workplaces can be more relaxed about small talk and coffee breaks, but expect formality with official offices. Many offices have limited public hours in the morning. In business, a handshake and Καλημέρα start meetings, and relationships matter.
Tips for dealing with offices
- Bring originals and photocopies.
- Get an appointment if possible, or go early.
- Use online services (gov.gr) where available.
- Ask for help: staff and other people in queues often assist.
- Be patient and polite.
Common mistakes
- Arriving without photocopies.
- Going too late in the day.
- Assuming procedures are identical in every office.
